Day 8

Today as we entered the caterpillar facility in Sanford, we were greeted with a video about the technology used at the company and then told we could take no pictures in the factory, because of this I have included a picture of a skid steer constructed at the factory. Today inside the factory we saw many welders and automation including robotic welders, machining systems, forklifts, and tool carts. The amount of seamless automation in the factory was amazing to watch as machines moved with no operators..

Day 7

During day 7 we had scheduled driving time for the group, as I could not drive the machines, I sat and watched as Matthew blew out a tire on the back hoe loader. We then completed another engineering challenge where we were required to find a way to install a toolbox onto an excavator.

Day Two at Glas

Going into day two the mannequin bottom I had started working with was beginning to take shape. The legs of my robot would be half human and half mannequin as shown above. The metal leg was made with aluminum stock and golf clubs, it will be used as a support for both the rest of the body which will include a working television, ribs, and a box tv head.
