DAY 3

Wednesday was full of personal stories shared over an impersonal platform. Radiologist Dr. Daniel Hassell started our day by guiding us through x-rays, including the one pictured above, and a scan of his own father’s knee. Dr. Tehrani, last but not least on our agenda, shared the high and low of his medical career – both med drama-esque situations – with a patient surviving and dying respectively. In between, Drs Wu and Zipkin led us through less dramatic, but no less interesting, positions in the medical field: those of the pediatrician, and the primary care physician. Throughout the day’s zoom meetings, one thread became clear: certain cases, no matter how routine they might seem at first, will stay with you forever. And that’s one of the gifts, and hardships, of being in the medical field. Nothing is predictable.
