Day 5

“Thanks for driving me!” i said goodbye to my Lyft as i exited the car. I opened my phone to make sure i knew exactly where to go. i scanned the area to find the CVS. There it was. Wheres raw? There it was. confident i was in the right place i entered a small niche between the aforementioned two. 4th floor. Upon walking down a narrow hallway, checking my email once more to make sure i’m in the right place, i opened the door.

Immediately I was greeted by two buff, normally intimidating men, instantaneously they put me at ease with their chill and welcoming vibe. Then i saw the room they just walked out from. Their podcasting studio. Before this, the closest i got to seeing something like this was Mr. O’Neills office which came with microphones, mixers, pop-filters, and stands. His room was made more for singing type stuff, not sitting down and talking stuff. The room that stood before me manifested the very thing i had been trying to replicate for almost a year now: a recording studio made for podcasting. Wow! it was a small room, pushing 5 people max. The walls were lined with soundproofed foam. taking up most of the space? a table with four arms attached to microphones with windscreens. The audio engineer, Max,  sat in the back corner of the table, furthest from the door, with a top of the line laptop connected to a movable monitor.

In the side of the wall was a small mini desk with a chair, almost as if its sole existence was for me to use. We sat and talked shop for a bit before the main star got there, Chef legend Bill Smith, where i got to sit in on a recording! everyone spoke eloquently and transitioned smoothly and had great rapport and it was amazing to watch. After the recording and talent was done, i got to spend to remainder of the time watching Max edit on Pro Tools, which was so cool!
