Semi by Sophie Munyon

“Semi” is the high school dance all Cary Academy students anticipate every winter. The Semi-Formal Dance with the theme “City of Stars” took place back on Saturday January 18th. It was held in the CMS with light refreshments and snacks like mini eclairs for students to snack on.

Our student council spent a lengthy time ensuring the CMS looked straight out of Vincent van Gogh’s painting “The Starry Night.” Molly Acton, the senior grades’ student council representative, helped set up for the semi-formal, starting on Friday before the dance. She noted, “decorating and planning semiformal was 100% a group effort, and without Ms. Yu, none of it would have been possible.”

The semiformal was a fun night that students will remember for the rest of the year. Students in each grade were able to attend and have an excellent time. Student Mirella DiGiulio (12th) enjoyed spending semi-formal with her friends. She recalls, “semi was so fun, the star decorations were beautiful and everyone was dressed so nice.” The “City of Stars” will be known as a highlight that marked the start of a great second semester.
