Homecoming by Sophie Munyon

Cary Academy’s second annual Homecoming Dance was held on Saturday September 21st. This year’s dance returned with a spin: The “Ho-Co Hoe Down”. Students were encouraged to bring their boots and hats onto the dance floor and show off their hoe-down moves. There were Western themed decorations all across the CMS including lights in the gym and the music was booming. The gym floor was full of students dancing to the Church Clap and Taylor Swift.

Leading up to the dance on Saturday was a week full of fun dress up days. During spirit week students were challenged to dress to meet each day’s theme to earn spirit points for their grade. This was the first opportunity this year for students to earn spirit points and was a great way to start off the annual competition. Tuesday was Twin Day, where students wore funny and cute matching outfits with their classmates. Wednesday was Pajama Day so students could be comfy and cozy on X Day! Thursday was Hat and Boots Day and, finally, Extreme Spirit Day on Friday!

Ultimately, the Homecoming Dance, sponsored by the Student Council along with X Factor, was a great way to start off the year and kick off the fall season.
