Class Trips by Anika Kadumpalli

High school is often defined by academic challenges, but at Cary Academy, the class trips are some of the most memorable experiences.

For ninth graders, the first big trip is a visit to Camp Skelton. This trip focuses on team building and strengthening connections within the grade through activities such as canoeing, archery, and hiking. “We were constantly surrounded by nature and did a lot of team bonding activities that brought our grade closer together,” says Mahika Kadumpalli (’28). This trip laid a strong foundation for team spirit that will carry throughout the rest of their high school experience.

The sophomores took a trip to Dollywood in Tennessee. From roller coasters to live shows to amazing food, Dollywood offers something for every student. They also took a trip to Anakeesta Adventures, a theme park filled with rides and fun activities. Overnight, students stayed in rustic cabins. Ananya Ravulapati (’27) said “although it was super-hot, there were so many diverse activities for us to do!” On the way back home, the grade made a stop at Bucc-ee’s, and everyone bought some matching merchandise.

The juniors had a slightly more educational trip, travelling to Washington, D.C. This trip was a blend of fun and learning, as students explored the capital’s landmarks, including the White House, Lincoln Memorial, and Holocaust Museum. Overall, D.C. gave students an opportunity to connect classroom knowledge with real-world experiences during a fun trip.

Lastly, the seniors took a trip to Myrtle Beach, where they celebrated the end of four years of hard work. They visited a roller coaster park, dined at Hard Rock Café, had a pizza party, visited a trampoline park, and most importantly, had fun at the beach. It was a great way for the seniors to have one last class trip before they move on to the next chapter of their lives.

These trips offer opportunities for each grade to bond, explore, and step outside the classroom with their peers. It was a time to create lasting memories in their high school journey.
