Slime. The sticky, colorful, chemical-smelling substance probably took over your house at some point. In 2015, the popularity of slime had a revival, with any video containing the gooey matter trending instantaneously. With this newfound virality, slime videos led to followers, which led to tutorials, which led to the growing sensation of slime all across the globe.
Like most trends, people got bored and slime was left in the past. New TikTok and Instagram trends floated across phone screens and years passed until slime hit the For You pages again.
In recent months, slime has unexpectedly regained traction. Storytimes, tutorials, and more involving slime have been flying all over social media. More likes lead to more activity which leads to more posts. Despite the sudden resurgence of slime, its popularity has come back in a rather odd way.
People have been creating slime on a table or the floor, just like always, except they have been doing so without a bowl. People have dumped their glue all over the surface, mixed in food coloring, shaving foam, beads, and added activator. Although messy and peculiar, slime has found its way back into homes across the nation.
