On April 3rd, Cary Academy’s HOSA club traveled to Greensboro for the HOSA State Level Conference. Hosted annually, this conference gathers hundreds of students from across the state to engage in a variety of activities, competitions, and educational sessions.
At the heart of the conference are the various competitive events designed to challenge and showcase the talents of HOSA members in healthcare-related events. From medical terminology to CPR first aid to healthcare issues debate, these competitions allow students to put their knowledge and skills to the test, where the top 10 participants in each event get recognized.
Beyond the competitions, the conference offers various educational sessions tailored to the interests and career aspirations of students. Whether its learning about the latest advancements in medical technology or gaining insight into different healthcare professions, these sessions help guide participants in the right direction about their future goals.
In addition, the HOSA conference emphasizes the importance of service to the community. Through service projects and volunteer opportunities, participants have the chance to make a positive impact on the healthcare community and get recognized for it at the conference. Whether its organizing health fairs, participating in blood drives, or raising awareness about public health issues, students learn the importance of giving back to the community.
At the end of the conference, participants were recognized for their various events and service, including some students from Cary Academy! Maya Gupta (’25) placed 3rd in Dental Terminology, Akash Mani (’26) placed 3rd in Nutrition, Katie Wiater (’26) placed 6th in Cultural Diversities and Disparities in Healthcare, Aviva Wang (’26) placed 10th in Medical Math, and Anika Kadumpalli (’25) received the Barbara James Service Award for her service in the healthcare field.
