May is in full swing and the academic year is slowing to a close: students are moving up a grade (seniors are soon-to-be freshman yet again), teachers are fine-tuning next year’s curriculum, and athletic and club responsibilities are being placed into the eager hands of rising juniors and seniors.
In terms of club leadership, so too is our time at The Campitor concluding! It’s a bittersweet moment. As editors, we certainly set out with ambitions for The Campitor, including revamping our online design, increasing our number of publications, and investing in creative campus advertising. We’re pleased to reveal our new website for this final issue, thanks to the support of Mr. Pugsley and Amy Snively (23). We are also excited to announce next year’s co-editors, Maya Gupta and Salim Alvi, who have been wonderful and committed contributors. We can’t wait to see what you do!
The Campitor certainly wouldn’t function without our talented team of writers. The breadth of the writing The Campitor publishes is certainly unique – and makes for really interesting issues! We love seeing what our writers are excited to report on. In this year alone, pieces have ranged from a political piece on student loan forgiveness to a light-hearted “power ranking” of every NBA team to an article reporting on an environmental innovation led by CA students. Our staff writers’ enthusiasm certainly shows in their work: each issue speaks to the diverse passions, issues, and concerns topical to our Cary Academy student body.
We also want to thank our student, faculty, and parent readers. We are grateful for your support, and honored to have brought you The Campitor over the past two years. A special thanks to Ms. Buie- we couldn’t have done this without you. We strongly believe in The Campitor’s mission in delivering authentic, student-centered news and opinions to our broader Cary Academy community, and are grateful for your role in making the publication a success. We hope you have enjoyed reading our writers’ work as much as we have!
Signing off,
Your editors – Kate Sandreuter, Ella Gupta, and Bela Chandler
