Hey y’all,
Whew. What a third trimester we have had already, and it’s barely even begun.
This issue was originally intended to be in print. Unfortunately, due to complications and school cancellations due to the coronavirus, we’ve had to modify our publishing schedule. It was a difficult decision for all of us, which is why we’re offering a PDF version of this issue – print formatting and all! – via Issuu. Check it out here.
We have also decided to put out a short special edition focusing almost exclusively on the coronavirus and its effects across our community. We expect to publish next month, with this issue hopefully appearing in print – the first time the Campitor will have appeared in print for over a decade.
We are so, so excited to show you what we’ve got.
Until then, please enjoy this second issue of the 2019-2020 Campitor. Its completion has been bittersweet for me especially, as a senior, but know that we won’t stop writing, bringing you updates and news, and hopefully grounding you a bit during this turbulent time.
This issue brings everything we intended to publish originally: advice for the end of the year, coupled with a special take on graduation for the class of 2020; two comics, one from our very own Mr. Follet and another from senior and artist Sam Dietrich; and updates on Delta, the NC Senate race, Winter Varsity awards, and more.
Everyone has worked incredibly hard on this issue. I am so proud of what we’ve pulled together. Thank you to assistant editors Claire Ferris and McKay Lucas, staff writers Sydney Nguyen, Will Aarons, Erin Singleton, Kaela Curtis, Sara Martin, guest contributors Mary Esposito and Loren Troan, and cartoonists Sam Dietrich and Mr. Follet. And, as always, thank you so much to Ms. Buie. We wouldn’t be here without you.
And thank you to you, our readers. I hope you enjoy this issue. Stay healthy and be safe.
Cheers,
Cate Pitterle ’20
