Starting the year off with the perfect tune, the Glee Club has brought a new singing community to our campus. Inspired by both the television series Glee and their own love for performing, seniors Lucy Daley and Aesha Desai were motivated to make the club happen. The musical group’s main focus is to perform their own show choir and acapella song covers with both enthusiastic beginners and experienced chorus members. With meetings each Monday club time, they have made great progress thus far. Right now, the club is practicing multiple pieces for the upcoming holiday season, including “the club’s favorite piece, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” says Lucy Daley. The perfect way to bring the festive spirit to the Cary Academy campus this winter is through song, and the Glee Club is preparing to make it spectacular.
Even with the time constraint of only thirty minute practice sessions, its dedicated members have made preparing for their holiday performance possible. They have helped create a positive atmosphere and a collaborative community, “It’s super fun! We have all gotten to know each other from the club, so we are all friends now and we think that’s really cool” says Lucy. The club states that they are open for any upper school students to join at any point in the year. Following their winter holiday performances, they hope to prepare something special for Valentine’s Day in February. For now, the club opens up its performance to the entire Cary Academy community, so make sure to join them this December to enjoy the holiday music.
Sounds like fun! Taylor, or Lucy, do you know the date/time for the “holiday performance”?
Many thanks,
Jeannie Ingram, parent
The first performances will start next week in front of the Upper School in the morning. I will gladly update you with more information when specific times are decided.
Break a leg! I hope your performances encourage other students to join the club.
