This spring season, Cary Academy’s Track and Field team set new school records. Coach Hall has guided the school’s largest athletic team to many victories this season, and he has continued to keep the team motivated and unified. Multiple athletes competed and came out triumphant in a variety of different events ranging from running events such as the 1600 meter to field events like shot put. This year, the team broke records in the Girls 4x800m relay, with Sarah Bodmer, Olivia Frazier, Emily Lane, and Dorrit Eisenbeis taking first place. In addition, the team has had great success in their overall meets with either the girls team, boys team, or both winning the whole meet so far. This year’s track team has also competed in competitions such as the Apex Bojangles Relays, which took place on April 22nd, and the William & Mary Colonial Relays on March 30th. With the last regular season meet on May 4th, the athletes qualified for TISAC, where the girls won for the third straight year, and the boys placed as the first runner up. The team is now preparing to display their talent at the state level with the NCISAA Championship on May 19th and 20th. With all of the successes the team has experienced this year, the athletes have continued to stay humble and focus on the team’s success rather than just themselves. You may be wondering, how has Cary Academy’s track team been able to continue to achieve all this victory year after year? The athletes say it’s because of the team-building, the friendly environment, and the motivation to always be the best to their ability. A member of the team, Princess Bernard-Oti, said that the team training is “tough, but worth it because the feeling after winning overshadows any pain felt before“. These words really encapsulate the culture that Cary Academy’s track team has established and are the words that has guided them to create a name for themselves.
