Students for Gender Equality is not just a feminist club; it is an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative group of the Cary Academy community motivated in changing the world for the better. From engaging group discussions to special defense classes, SGE has something for everyone. Back in October the group hosted Cary Academy’s first ever Domestic Violence Awareness Month to show support for victims and raise awareness for this unfortunately frequent problem. SGE raised over $500 for the Compass Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina by selling baked goods and passing out awareness ribbons to students and faculty. The club will also be hosting Cary Academy’s second annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month this March, but bake sales and awareness months are not the limit for Students for Gender Equality. The club plans to participate in local gender conferences, host many guest speakers, and collaborate with other clubs and affinity groups in the future. We meet on B1 rotation Mondays (the same week as Key and Beta), and our meetings are open to everyone, so feel free to stop by!
