Key Club Volunteering in Trimester 2

By Julia Gong

In Trimester 2, Key Club members participated in a handful of terrific officer endorsed events as well as their own individual events. From Brown Bagging for the Wilmington St. Men’s Shelter to Ubuntu, the Food Bank, and the Blood Drive, CA students lent a helping hand both within and outside of our community. With the juniors in the lead for greatest number of service hours, the competition remains steady…Key Club 1

One of the officer endorsed events was the Food Bank in February. The members hopped on a Charger Bus and went to Raleigh to sort potatoes! After some initial training and introduction, the members began to sort sweet potatoes into five-to-ten-pound bags.Key Club 3

Combined with the other volunteers who visited that day, we sorted and packed more than 9000 meals that would then go out on that Friday. Talk about strength in numbers and making a difference!

After similarly fantastic experiences in other service events, Key Club members will begin volunteering in T3 with the annual Raleigh School Carnival. Soon after, they will be preparing for (more than one) election season!Key Club 2
