Common mistakes students are making on their world music projects:

  • Make sure you have ONE post on your blog where ALL of your project work is posted.  (Mr. Grush gets grouchy when he has to dig around multiple posts to find what he needs to see).  If not, please go back, consolidate, and delete the ones we do not need.  I want anyone who goes to your project to be able to see your process as well as the final product.
  • Make sure you actually have a post on your blog.  EVERY student must have a post on her/his blog.  Make a link to other group members posts who have your groups noteflight and recording(s).
  • Make sure the tags are correct.  Every post you make for band should have the following:

grush
band6th  or bandms  or  bandus
worldmusic (no spaces)

  • Make sure you watch the Audacity tutorial videos below.  (Setting the microphone level, multi-track recording, exporting as MP3 and uploading to your blog)
  • Make sure you have selected “anyone can make changes” in the sharing settings so I can leave you comments and make suggestions.
  • Make sure you read the comments I post on your blog.  Email me or see me with questions.
  • Make sure to meet deadlines so you do not lose credit for submitting your work late.
  • Record yourself while listening to noteflight with headphones.  We do  not want anything on your melody recording except you.
  • Make sure you have transposed your part correctly so that you are playing in the same key as noteflight.

See below for tutorials on using Audacity to make an MP3, posting your MP3 on your blog, and embedding noteflight files in your blog.
