A major is a field in which a student focuses during their undergrad studies which is an addition to the core curriculum. Most students complete 10/20 credits in an honors degree in their Major subject area. Majors can also be called concentrations. A minor is a secondary concentration of courses that sort of complement the major. The usual requirements are to complete 4 of the required credits in a minor subject. An associate degree is undergraduate academic degree because of the completion or a course that last two years. A bachelor degree is an undergraduate academic degree because of the completion of a course of study lasting three to seven years. A graduate degree is an advanced academic degree that are available to people who have a bachelor degree. Examples are Master of Business Administration, Juris Doctor, and Doctor philosophy. A doctorate degree is the highest level of an academic degree. You can earn a doctorate in any subject. It takes 4 years to complete. Since I want to be a Behavioral Analyst I want to major in psychology. This will help me because psychology is the study of human behavior. As a Behavioral Analyst, you must analyze the behavior of people.

Unicorns vs. Dragons

The majestic beautiful Unicorns lived in a beautiful forest with lots of sun and rainbows but on the other side of the forest was the Dragons with the black sad, land. In the Unicorns forest, there were no worries. The unicorns lived in groups, and gathered the fruit from the trees and had large community meals with all the fruits at the table. Everyone was happy and they were laughing and playing games.

But one day everything changed. The dragon felt that they were unprotected from the unicorns so they began to attack. The dragons flew over the forest causing and ugly black sky to occur. The unicorns erupt in chaos. Unicorns ran for shelter, but for some, it was too late. The dragons viscously attacked them. The unicorns were startled by the inspected attack. They were dazed and confused as no unicorn ever dared to lay a finger on the dragons part of the forest. The dragons raided their homes and ripped the horns right of their heads. But without the horns, there was no happiness. Instead of laughing and playing people just wanted to survive. The dragons pushed the Unicorns to the outskirts and moved them from the capital Fluffernutters to the fruit picking factories.

The unicorns lost their land but they were too scared to speak up until one Unicorn named Lomo Fluffatta decided he could take no more. Lomo gathered his friends and began little by little revolting. The dragons realized that they could be in a major pickle so they threw Lomo in jail. That made the Unicorns angrier and they decided they had to fight for Lomo. The dragons were appalled at what was happening to their newly founded land. They decided they had to give up otherwise they could be killed.

The unicorns celebrated with joy and pride for they had just got their land back. The took Lomo Fluffatta out of jail and crowned him the unicorn king. He ruled the forest for a long time and brought every unicorn horn back so they could return to be magical and majestic. They decide that they were unbreakable and the dragons or anyone else could be the boss of them. Today they continue to grow fruit and laugh. Every night before they fall asleep they look up at the sun and rainbows and they remember the pride and joy the felt in the forest. Lomo Fluffatta will always be remembered as the Father of the forest.

It all started with the question How does the different consumptions of nutrients from food affect your health in the long run? We have come so far. We have turned an idea into a reality. This is how it happened.

The first day of health we watched videos and filled in notes. The video was long and quite frankly I was a little confused. But at the end of the video Coach, Shaw went over all the answers and what they meant. Which was wonderful, because now I can identify and explain Nutrients, carbohydrates, saturated and unsaturated fats, and so much more.

We had a practice quiz that I wasn’t there for, but instead, I studied my notes and went over them and over them for “homework”. That week we watched a video about kids suffering micronutrients. The want to be able to send rescue missions in third world countries, giving kids food packages and helping them become healthy again. To learn more about micronutrients casued by undernourishment click here http://chartsbin.com/view/5531

Within a week after learning about malnutrition and macronutrients, we started with making individual group sways about 3 to 4 different topics. I was one of the groups with macronutrients. I was reminded of the food pyramid. In my opinion, the food pyramid is a great way to visually see the healthy amounts a food that should be eaten.

Then a really cool nutritionist named Miss. Eisbeis came in and talked to us about the amount of sugar that is found in our favorite drinks. Including my favorite drink like Bojangles Ice Tea.

After we created our sways we presented them to the class and in my opinion, I thought it was pretty cool to see how other groups choose to talk about their projects. I learned more about UNICEF’s strategic plan and acute malnutrition.

This is where It gets super cool. We came together and started brainstorming groups that could help us answer the question How does the different consumptions of nutrients from food affect your health in the long run? We thought of groups like swayologist, producers, surveyors, and more. We also talked about what they did. In my opinion, it was fun to pick your own group. I picked producers with Kendal, and Chailyn and we started brainstorming right away. We came up with interviews and a short film.

The next week we started right away with interview questions. Unfortunately, one of my group members wouldn’t let me do any work, so I decided to send an email to Michelle Obama because as first lady her project is kids health. It only took me one class period and I used a grammar checking site because I have bad grammar. I checked every day but I guess she is busy doing something else.

Also this week we started blogs. In my opinion, I think it was kind of hard because I didn’t know if it was too much or too little. But I managed to do really well.

After a couple weeks my group finished interviewing both Mr. Raskeviz and Miss. Davenport. We also finished a short film asking students about their health.

That week for homework was a pretty lengthy assignment about what groups should do what when it comes to sharing our project with the community. It was pretty hard to relate what the group was doing and how they could help share it with the community.

So the past few weeks we have been saying announcements at lunch, hall meetings, and faculty meetings. We came up with two contest that worked very well. We had a yammer contest to see who has the best logo, which wasn’t really successful. We also did this cool ten-day challenge to see what people are eating and how much of it. Miss. Shipps table won and they got table side tacos.

As this project comes to an end I hope that the ten-day challenge will stick and we can decrease the number of obese people in America. That’s all for now. Bye!!!!!

Psychologist

Potential Science Careers

The job that I have chosen to study and hopefully do when I get older is a Psychologist. What they can do to help people is they can teach athletes how to increase mental focus for a better in-game performance. They can assist soldiers from the battlefield to the home front. They can help people conquer their fears. Also, they can improve our education systems by researching how people learn. An overview for being a phycologist is people take certain actions and we don’t know what causes them to. Psychologist help figures out why people act the way they do by investigating physical, cognitive, emotional, or social aspects of human behavior and the human mind. Some psychologist also applies these findings in order to design better products or to help people change their behavior.

Some key requirements that every psychologist must have is a keen interest in people, compassion, patience, and the ability to get other people to open up and tell what they feel.

The minimum degree needed is a master or a doctoral degree and a license. On exception is if I decide to work for the federal government which in that case I will need 24 semester hours. I f I become a Psychologist I would want to attend the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor because they have one of the top programs in the country, having a total Psychology faculty of 103. But before that in High School to help me prepare I want to take biology, chemistry, English, and if we have it psychology.

The median salary for the US is 48,320 but for Psychologist is 68,900. So us psychologist on average get paid 20,580 above the average US salary every year. The predicted growth over a course of 10 years (2012-2022) is 7% to 13% which is pretty average not to good or bad.

If I decide not to be a physiologist then I want to go into other related jobs like child, family, and school social workers, an occupational therapist, or a program director (such as educational or religious activities)

On the job I would be required to identify emotional, or behavioral issues and diagnose disorders. I would have to develop individual treatment plans, specifying type and intensity. I would definitely interact with clients to assist them in defining goals and planning action to achieve effective personal, social, educational, and discuss the treatment of problems with clients. To help clients I would need to use a variety of treatment methods, such as psychotherapy, hypnosis, behavior modification, stress reduction therapy, psychodrama, and play therapy.

Three things that make me want to be a physiologist is the fact that you get to help people out and make a difference in the community, also you might even save relationships. Another reason I would want to be a psychologist is the time that you are required to go to college, because you already have 12 years, I don’t I can go much longer. But with all the pros there are some cons. One reason I don’t want to be a physiologist is that you have to collect data and make diagnoses and I am not really good at that.

3D Object Information

For the Flatland Research Project, the monument that I choose was the London Bridge, located in London, England. The London bridge was reconstructed is 1973 and is made out of steel and concrete. But It was original built in the 1830s and formerly spanned the River Thames in London, England. It was dismantled in 1967 and relocated to Arizona. The Arizona bridge is a reinforced concrete structure clad in the original masonry of the 1830s bridge, which was purchased by Robert P. McCulloch from the City of London. One of the most memorial thing about the London Bridge is the beloved nursery rhyme in which it says “London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down my fair lady. Which is about when the end of Roman rule in Britain in the early 5th century London was slowly abandoned and the first bridge fell down.

Since the London bridge is a very complicated bridge I would like to draw it from the side (from the middle), the top, the underneath and the front entrance. These angles are all very different and the bridges have incredible detail that can be hard to draw but I am up to the challenge.

Flatland Movie

In the flatland movie there was a very curious hexagon who lived with her grandparents, and wanted to know why the circle people killed her parents. The flatland people have a rule that the more sides a person has the more superior they are until they have so many sides that they become a circle. The circles know of the third dimension but they do not want the rest of Flatland to know so they said anyone who knows gets arrested.  The hexagons grandpa has a dream about 4 different dimensions which are a dot which is zero dimension, a line which is 1st dimension, a square(himself) which is 2nd dimension, and length, width, and height which is 3rd dimension. Their is also a 4th dimension but we do not know much about it.

Change the World Blogs

Folu Ogundipe and I, Sierra Nesbeth worked extremely well together. Although we got off to a rough start once we found the direction we wanted to go in everything became smooth sailing for the rest of the project. We did most of the work by splitting it up and giving responsibility but we always checked each others work and ideas to see if we had any suggestions to make it even better. My favorite part of the project was designing the website. I liked how you can make it eye catching as well as adding your own personal touch. One thing i would change is putting the yammer comments actually in the website, because if someone actual used it for research then they wouldn’t know what yammer is and they would have our first and last name. Going from here i am surprisingly nervous about the future of the black lives matter movement because of the new president elect Donald J. Trump. I will continue to be an activist and one day i hope i can be in a real protest and understand what it feels like to not be heard when you are trying to save America and the world from destruction, first it starts with African Americans, then it could end up being you.images-1
