Cary Academy families have had numerous opportunities to travel the world together.
In addition to the trip to Patagonia run by CA alum Carrie Hartsfield and featured in the Winter 2018 issue of the Cary Academy Magazine, a summer trip to Japan is being sponsored by CA alum Evan Pike.
Evan led a tour for CA families in 2016, and the upcoming trip features visits to famous shrines and temples, calligraphy lessons, a Samurai theater show, and a cooking lesson in a Japanese home.
Evan is a successful photographer, and trip goers will be certain to have many chances to capture great images of beauty. MS faculty member Katie Taylor will accompany the group, and interested individuals should contact Evan Pike.
In 2015, five CA families traveled to Italy for a non-school trip coordinated by US faculty members Mr. Robert Coven and Ms. Ellen Gooding.
Highlights included a visit to Ostia Antica, which is an ancient harbor of Rome, Sorrento, and Pompeii. After stops in Naples the group went on a tour down the Amalfi Coast and on to Pozzuoli to visit the Solfatara Volcano. The trip ended with a tour of Rome, where they saw the Colosseum and the Forum. The next day they had a tour of Vatican City where they saw different museums and the Sistine Chapel. That afternoon, they took a guided tour of the Spanish steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the Pizzza Navona.
