The good news – You do NOT need to re-read the entire band handbook (unless less you have insomnia problems).
The bad news – there a few things parents AND students need to do ASAP
1. Read about the changes to student assessment:
2. Re-Read the Band_Calendar_13-14 with your student and mark dates on your personal calendar
3. Read the Trimester 3 Syllabus with your student and mark assignment due dates in your system for tracking assignments
4. Complete the online form by Friday, March 21 for one point extra credit to trimester 3 average (due by midnight)
Links to student progress journals are on their band class page. Students will need to log in for parents to see the journals.
On the first day of class during each school week, reflect on HOW you made progress in your practicing the previous week.
This is not a place to simply list or describe what you played. Whenever possible, include specific skills, strategies you found helpful, progress, and next steps.
Talk to Mr. Grush with your ideas on how this journal can be most useful to you.

T2 Extra Credit
Students will have the opportunity to do this in class Monday or Tuesday. If they want to think about it ahead of time, or go ahead and complete the form outside of class, that is fine. Submissions must be made by 11:59pm on Tuesday.
Recital at Glenaire on Feb. 26
Select band students from grades 6-12 will perform a recital of solos and ensembles at Glenaire from 7-8 pm on Wednesday.
Band Trip to New York March 1-4
Yes, 14 brave students (and 6 even braver adults) will venture to New York on Saturday. We’ll wear our boots and galoshes as we trudge through the forecasted show. 🙂 We’ll hear a great quartet at Jazz at Lincoln Center, visit the 9/11 memorial, see the Lion King, take in the view from the top of Rockefeller Center, visit the Fieldston School, and play at Lincoln Center. Some of us will hear Branford Marsalis’ quartet play at the Village Vanguard. In the words of Dickie V, “It’s gonna be awesome baby!”
Circus Concert on March 7
This looks fun. The history of early 20th century Circus music. Extra credit for T3!
