When Luke receives his light saber, the horns played a low, quiet melody.
The music conveys suspense as the sand people come in by producing a slow, but rhythmic sequence of notes to give a haunting sense.
When R-2 D-2 finds himself in a ship in the middle of the desert, the strings are playing quietly in the background.
Every time Princess Leia shows up in the music, the flutes play!
The opening song, the main title, gives a dramatic opening to the movie, especially when the words come in. The dramatic music when the ship is shooting at the rebel ship is slow but loud.
Extremely heroic music plays as Han, Chewbacca and Luke walk in triumphantly and greet Lea and are welcomed by the rest of the rebellion. It slows down, but remains joyful as she awards them medals.
music as obi-wan is killed is exciting, but is short-lived as luke, han and lea are trying to escape. The action throughout this scene is intense, as is the music. music, quiet and reflective, starts right before they are getting ready to take off to go for the death star. The music is nervous as Lea and the commanders watch. The music as they are approaching the death star is accented and loud. As they get close, it shifts to fast-paced action music. When Darth Vader shows up, music gets loud and scary. Fight music plays while the pilots are flying. While darth vader is chasing down and destroying ships, the music stops, but comes back on again when luke goes down towards the trench. suspenseful music plays as luke gets closer to the spot. Strings come on as the music gets emotional when Obi’s words echo in luke’s head. Strings fade out as he returns to reality. As the empire is getting ready to fire the missile to destroy the planet, ominous music plays. The music escalates, and right as they’re about to fire the missile, the whole thing explodes. The strings play again emotionally as Obi’s words again echo in Luke’s head.
The music gets louder when people aren’t talking, so it only plays loud during breaks in conversation.
The French Horns are really great here! They get the melody only once or twice, but they aren’t afraid to really play loudly!

Rebel music starts as they are pulled into the death star.
suspensful music as they walk through the hallway with Chewy,
fast paced music during the blaster fight.
Repeating loud scary music as the trash chute walls close in.
“Lost Music:” French Horns playing low.
When the stormtroopers confront han solo and chewbacca in the room, the music is filled with lots of accents and is loud and fast paced.
Fighting Music…
Whenever there is a star trooper in the same room as the others.
music is dark as they climb in through the floorboards of the falcon. There is heroic music as they break in the mission control center. The music seems almost nervous when they are sneaking to the find princess lea.
The rebel music is slowly getting louder as they move towards the death star… However, the trumpets come blasting in at the last minute! Again, the reflection of the scene.
There is definitely bad-guy music leading up to the sequence when they blow up Leah’s home planet. When they find the death star and they realize it’s a space station, the music is slow but speeding up and getting louder as they get pulled in by the beam of the station. The music is extremely loud and fast when they are entering the space station
“that’s no moon” – music starts up again when thy realize they are approaching the death star. Ominous music.
As their ship climbed to light speed, the music got progressively louder…
The music really reflects the scene that is being depicted, like when Java is speaking. The music is slow, and creeping.
The “Bad Guy Music” is very loud and the strings and the trumpets really take over the orchestra.
when they’re boarding the ship and stormtroopers are coming, music escalates then gets very fast during the fight scene. There are lots of fast-paced strings. Music is very ominous when the big sphere shows up again, but settles down in the next shot.
Goofy quick music as they are in the cantina.
music comes to a sudden stop as they are attacked and resumes after.
Weird music as R2 and C3PO lock the door.
Deep Scary music as a bounty hunter follows Obi Wan and Luke.
very lively jazz when they enter the bar. The music is kind of off-beat and funny, to compliment all of the odd-looking creatures all around the bar.
Mos Eisley – the bar. The music is called Cantina Band. It is goofy sounding to match all the goofy looking creatures.

luke looks at the moons: Force theme swells, and then when luke finds C3PO clarinets come back.
Loud chaotic deep music as the sand people see luke.
Quiet flute when luke is looking through binoculars at the sandpeople, suspensful.
Sad quiet music as Darth Vader is explained by Ben.
Saddening and high pitched music with deep background as the look at the destroyed transport.
Exciting and dark music as they enter the criminal place.
When luke decides to become a jedi, the music picks up. Overlooking the cliff into the distance, the music hits extremely fast placed. THe music has a few accents that are very pronounced every time the scene changes.
When giant sphere shows up, music hits hard, fast and threatening. When luke and Obi-wan visit the ship in the sand, we hear a lot of high-pitched flute notes along with some very low strings. This is rather ominous. As he is leaving hurriedly, the music gets fast paced and urgent. When he gets home, he finds it all smoking and destroyed.
when obi-wan is talking about the force, the music is exciting as luke looks very curious.
when sand people show up with guns, we know they can see our heroes but the heroes can’t see them. The music is scary and prophetic. When Luke knows that there are sand people, the music jumps immediately. When he is ambushed, the music fits with the fight. Then, when R2D2 is hiding, the music is mysterious in a creepy way as they are about to take away Luke’s flying machine.
Force theme as Luke looks a at the 2 sons. Violins come in – the most emotional and expressive instrument.
The music is wistful and emotional when luke gazes into the sky hoping to escape his life. There are lots of strings especially.
Mysterious music when Leah is on the hologram, and part of the recording is displayed.
heroic music when we see luke for the first time
when giant ship shows up in desert and R2D2 and C3PO are talking, the music is light and funny to compliment their interaction and the hooded figures
When the Jawas take R2D2 to their ship, I hear a light horn music, which then swells and becomes louder as they go on the ship, and softens again when R2D2 wakes up.
small hooded people drag away R2D2- music is kind of mysterious but also lighthearted and funny
during opening fighting scene, background music gets appropriately heavier when vader enters the room.
The music during the fight scene is fast paced and back-and-forth like the battle.
It’s interesting I never before noticed how well the sound follows the action.When Leia was hiding and came out to shoot, it immediately sped up to her running away, and then slowed back down when she was caught.
As Leia gives R2 the audio clip the music is very heroic and up lifting. There was a slight build up when leia started to run away until she got captured.
Mr. Grush is old. ???
