In case you were not able to attend the Seussical meeting. . .
Musical Orchestra Schedule 13-14 revised 9-26-13
For the first time in 9 years, we will be having a student orchestra for the musical! The number of players will depend on the experience level of those auditioning, and the amount of space available in the Orchestra pit.
Starting tomorrow, interested students should make an appointment with Mr. Qiao or Mr. Grush to read through the music as soon as possible, BEFORE the auditions in November.
Auditions will consist of playing 2 octave major and minor scales as well as sight-reading.
The following instruments are needed:
Violin
Viola
Cello
Bass (Electric and Acoustic)
Flute/Piccolo
Oboe
Clarinet
Bass Clarinet
Soprano Sax
Alto Sax
Tenor Sax
Bari Sax
Trumpet
Trombone
Guitar (Electric and Acoustic)
Banjo
Drumset
Percussion (Mallets, timpani, hand drums, auxiliary)
Keyboard
Auditions will be held Monday, November 11 from 3:30-5:30pm. Violin/Viola/Cello players audition for Mr. Qiao in the Orchestra room (B208). All others audition for Mr. Grush in the bandroom (B209).
Orchestra rehearsals for the production will begin Friday, November 15 from 12:30-3:30pm. Rehearsals will continue over a 9-week period with the performances taking place on Wednesday, February 12th @ 7PM; Thursday, February 13th @ 7PM; and Friday, February 14th @ 7PM.
- · It will not be possible to participate in the Seussical Orchestra and Cary Academy Athletics or other extracurricular activities during the winter trimester.
- · If you are selected to participate, any known conflicts should be submitted with the performance agreement by November 15.
- · Each orchestra member will need to attend every rehearsal from Friday, November 15 through the performances, unless s/he is told not to attend (or unless s/he has been excused).
- · Each orchestra member must attend the weekend tech rehearsal on Sunday, February 9th.
- · The music is extremely challenging and will require diligent practice outside of scheduled rehearsals. Orchestra members need to be prepared to see Mr. Grush or Mr. Qiao individually if needed.
