Student Assessment

Changes in the grading categories for trimester 3, 2013-14:

  • Pass-offs were previously 30%. Now they become 10% for each standard (50% total for all 5 standards)
  • Participation was 40%.  Now it is 25%
  • Progress Journal was 20%.  Now it is 25%.
  • There is no project or performance (group or section) category this trimester

Pass-offs are assessed using the 5 band standards.

New for MS students
MS students will choose an additional exercise from the list provided if they wish to raise their grade for one or more standards.  (In person or submit a recording)  They will not play over the original pass-off material.

New this trimester for US students
US students will choose sections of the music that represent their mastery of the standard(s) they wish to improve.  Students will play these sections for Mr. Grush in person or submit a recording.  In addition, Mr. Grush may ask students to play other sections of the music or the entire piece of music.
