NCAIS Honor Band Clinic Weekend was a huge success
20 Cary Academy students spent a large part of their Fall Break rehearsing with the NCAIS Honor Bands at Campbell University. Students had 2 weeks to prepare music, and 2 days to rehearse together before performing a wonderful concert.
Students, ask your friends who participated what they did. All of you are eligible and could be nominated next year!
Parents, encourage your student to agree to be nominated next year!
Make-up deadline is Friday 10/21
Friday 10/21 is the last chance students have to submit or to do-over an assignment to raise their grade. Please check your grades and make sure you have no grades of M (missing) or 50 (do something over). Students should see me IMMEDIATELY!
Jazz on the Quad is Monday, October 24 at 5:30 PM
Everyone is invited. Bring a picnic (no alcohol, pets, or smoking) and join us on the Quad for some Jazz.
MS Jazz Band, US Jazz Band, and the Jazz Combo will all perform, along with a professional jazz combo from Elon University.
The concert will end between 7:00 and 7:30 PM and students who perform are expected to stay for the entire concert.
Dress is ALL BLACK (see past issues for details)
Jazz Band students, I will be giving you a detailed schedule on Wednesday.
Band Concert is Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7:00PM in the auditorium
Everyone is invited.
Beginning Band, MS Band, and US Band will perform. We will also have some guests performing with the US band.
The concert will end around 8:30, possibly sooner, and students who perform are expected to stay for the entire concert.

All-District Band Auditions and All-Region Jazz Band Auditions are in January
These are Honor Bands like the NCAIS Honor Band, except that students try out for these groups.

See Mr. Grush for audition requirements (Solo, scales, and improvisation for jazz).
Students, ALL of you are good enough to make these groups. The question is, are you willing to put in the work?
Summer Music Camps
I know it is just October, but before you make all of your summer plans, consider trying a Summer Music camp. There are a number of them in NC, but the one I am most familiar with is at UNCG.
Students, start talking to friends and see if a groups of CA sytudents want to go to music camp together!
