Outfits

Please re-read the Performance Attire   section of the band handbook and email me with questions.  There are changes from last year.

  • Ladies – BLACK dress shoes are best – but whatever works with your outfit is fine.
  • Men – BLACK dress shoes.    Maybe borrow a pair of shoes?
  • Men – BLACK socks are black. White socks are not black.  Any other color is not black.  Wear socks.  Black socks.
  • BLACK dress pants, dresses, skirts/blouses  as long as they are solid black – not patterned
  • BLACK long sleeve shirts are best – as long as they are solid black. 
  • BLACK golf/polo shirts are fine – tiny embroidered logos are okay (not the huge polo horses, etc)
  • Do NOT wear black shorts.
  • Black jeans or sweatpants will NOT work
  • Black T-shirts will NOT work
  • Black warm up jackets or hoodies will NOT work

 

Listening Assignment

Trimester 1 Listening Assignment is Due Thursday, Oct. 13 for most students.  Visit the Listening Assignments page for all of the details.

2 new options for anyone to attend (yes, even if no one plays your instrument).  Students may have extensions until Friday, Oct. 28 if they attend either of these concerts:

Saturday Oct. 22 at 7:00PM  – Raleigh Area Flute Choir Concert to benefit those who suffered losses from Hurricane Irene.  Benson Memorial United Methodist Church, 4706 Creedmoor Rd, 27612.

Monday, October 24 at 5:30PM – Jazz on the Quad.  CA Jazz Bands (US, MS, and Combo) along with a professional jazz combo. (Jon Metzger, jazz vibraphonist and Elon director of jazz studies, and friends)

 

Make-up deadline is Friday 10/21

Friday 10/21 is the last chance students have to submit or to do-over an assignment to raise their grade.  Please check your grades and  make sure you have no grades of M (missing) or 50 (do something over).  Students should talk to me in class and sign up for a time to see me.
