Instrument Care – time for regular maintenance

This week, students will receive a paper copy of the Instrument Care  document to keep in their band binders.  Parents, please go over it with your student and have them inspect and clean their instrument.  It is too big of an investment to not take good care of it!

Listening Assignment

Trimester 1 Listneing Assignment is Due Thursday, Oct. 13 for most students.  Visit the Listening Assignments page for all of the details.

Listening Strategies

I have compiled some notes into a page of listening strategies.  Students should use them when listening to recordings of our rehearsals, and they may be helpful to use for listening assignments.

Extra credit

Students, please review the Extra Credit Opportunities sectionof the band handbook to see if there is anything you want to do or have already done!  We count up extra credit during the last week of the trimester.  I suggest keeping a list of things you have done and keep the list in your band binder.

Also, don’t forget about music software or web tools.  Simply try out one piece of software (free demos) or web tool and post your opinions on it on the BandBlog.   Music Software Comments.

In your comment, include what the software or tool is called, what it does, and whether you think it would be useful to anyone in our band.

Do as many as you like, but each one has to be different from any others that have already been done.

Make-up deadline is Friday 10/21

Friday 10/21 is the last chance students have to submit or to do-over an assignment to raise their grade.  Please check your grades and  make sure you have no grades of M (missing) or 50 (do something over).
