What are we doing this week? (Due dates, class activities)
Mr. Grush is gone on Tuesday, so you know what that means . . .
NO not leaving tacks in his chair and switching names to confuse the substitute. It means Sectionals. Check the board for some guidelines developed by our 6th grade band students!
In this Edition
- 6th graders: In-Class Demonstration, Friday September 30 from 1:35-2:20
- 7th-12th graders: Virginia Tech Honor Band (Optional)

- All-Nov. 5 bookfair – solos, date has changed
6th graders: In-Class Demonstration
Parents, relatives, neighbors, friends, enemies, or anyone you wish to invite should come to the bandroom on Friday, September 30 from 1:35-2:20 to hear the wonderful progress of the Beginning Band. We will demonstrate how we rehearse in class, play some music written by the students, receive musicians licenses, and finish with some refreshments.
7th-12th graders: Virginia Tech Honor Band (Optional)
It has been a few years since we have had anyone participate in this (probably because Mr. Grush started the NCAIS Honor Band and stopped telling you about the Virginia Tech one). I am not available to go with you, but would be happy to nominate you if you wish to go with a parent. If you would like to be nominated, read about the event and then ask Mr. Grush to nominate you.
Requests to be nominated are due to Mr. Grush by Friday, October 28.
StudentTree
I will complete my mid-term grades Sunday, Ocotber 2. Please check Student tree this week to look for missing assignments or assignments to do over. An “M” means the assignment is missing. A “50” means the assignment should be done over. Email Mr. Grush with questions.
Schedule conferences
I would love to meet with any of you on the school conference Days, October 6 and 7. US and MS do them differently. US is set up to see all teachers, but for only 10 minutes each. MS is set up to see advisors for longer. However, I welcome MS families to meet with me for 10 minutes if you wish. So, there are different ways to sign up for a time to meet with me.
US Conference Sign-up – see the email from Mrs. Clarkson (I don’t have a link to your version, just the teacher version)

7th-12th graders – SATURDAY, Nov. 5 Bookfair
The date is changed to Saturdayand we really need those sudents who are working to learn the All-Distrrict Band or All-Region JAzz solo to play for the bookfair. I’m not sure of the time, but I assume afternoon. I have only heard from 2 people. We can do better than that!
Interested sudents should see Mr. Grush as soon as possible and start coming to the bandrom during lunch (US), enrichment (MS), or after school to rehearse.
