In the movie, there is a place called Flatland where there is only two dimension. In this place, there are two-dimensional shapes that have to obey rules made by the supreme circles. One of the shapes in Flatland is named Authur Square. He, just like everyone else in Flatland, thought that there was nothing higher than the two-dimensional world. That is everyone except for Arthur’s granddaughter Hex. She thinks that it is possible to create a third dimension, but this would be going against the circle’s law. One day, Arthur Square has a dream where a sphere named Spherius shows him the three-dimensional world and proves that it exists. Spherius sends Arthur Square to a place where he learns about the different dimensions. First, there is the zero dimension or point zero. This dimension doesn’t have length, width, or height, it shows its location. Then there is one dimension which connects two points to create a line segment. In this dimension, length is introduced. Next is two dimension which consists of flat shapes. This dimension has length and width. After looking at these dimensions, Spherius show Arthur Square the next addition, height. Length, width, and height create the third dimension. Meanwhile, Hex has already made her way to Area 39 where she will prove her theory. Arthur Square comes to save Hex as the triangle cops were on their way to arrest her. Hex gets away but Arthur Square is arrested. In court, he proves to the people of Flatland that there is a third dimension and possibly a fourth.
