Nien Cheng is not like the other people from the revolution. She is calm and thinks about things from different angles. For example, when she wondered if she would do the same thing as the Red Guards. She doesn’t want to make assumptions about people she doesn’t know enough about. Instead of feeling like she was at war with the Red Guards, she accepted what was happening. This leads me to think that Nien Cheng would act differently if she was a Red Guard. She might think and understand the people. Nien Cheng would probably take a less violent path, unlike some of the Red Guards. I think this because when the Red Guard snatched the document out of her hand and threw it on the ground, she didn’t fight back.
