The Maya did not have extensive trading relationship with other cultures which led to cultural diffusion. Even though the Mayans lived during the same time period as the some of the other cultures they didn’t have anything related to them. The Mayans painted and did pottery. Some of the other cultures carved stone to make statues or made stone pyramids. The only other culture that painted and did pottery was the Mochica. The Mochicans and the Mayans could have traded ideas except for a couple issues. The two cultures lived in different times and places. The Mochica lived in Yucatan from 1 A.D. till 800 A.D. But the Mayans lived in the Andes from 1,000 A.D. till 1,525 A.D. This shows that the Mayans did not have cultural diffusion with any other groups of people or cultures.
